You've Shared Your Plane Porn, And It's Fantastic

A while back, I invited readers to submit the aviation-themed photos that you've shot and are proud of, and you met my request with enthusiasm! So for this episode of Plane Porn, we'll take a look at what you've sent in.

We'll start off with this awesome night shot by Kevin Flores, who works there at LAX. We see an Hawaiian Airlines 767-300ER with the iconic LAX "Encounter" restaurant (which has now closed its doors) in the background.

John Murphy sent in this sad shot of N106US, the U.S. Airways Airbus A320 involved in the "Miracle on the Hudson." It always creeps me out a bit to be around planes that I know have been in wrecks or serious incidents.

An old Air Force Constallation, shot by Jonathan Katz at the Pima Air & Space Museum. I always thought "Connies" were beautiful planes, and this is the first I remember seeing stripped down to her bare metal. The Pima museum has over 80 acres of historic planes, plus an "airplane graveyard" you can tour. I haven't been, but it's on my to-do list.

This Avro Lancaster bomber is one of only two remaining in the world that can still fly. It's the same aircraft on which a ride was auctioned from Canada to England on eBay. The winning bidder paid $79,100 Canadian ($73,526.68 US) for the privilege to train with the crew and help ferry the plane across the Atlantic. The photo is by Chris Hamashuk.

In this shot, we have a formation shot of two of my favorite fighters: the F-16 and the P-51, each the masters of the sky during their respective service lives. This one comes to us John Gnuechtel.

Notice anything wrong with this picture, or I should say the plane in the picture? This C5 shot was sent by an actual C5 Loadmaster - Sgt. Zachary Fannin. Thanks for your service to our country, Sgt. Fannin!

Last, but definitely not least — Emmanuel Canaan got this incredible air-to-air shot of Team Oracle stunt pilot Sean Tucker. You can check out more of Emmanuel's work here.

The photo at the top is a MiG-17F, flown by Randy Ball and shot by Tim Shaffer at the Central Texas Air Show in May, 2013.
